Details: Eurocan Pulp & Paper Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. www.westfraser.com, is a major integrated producer and marketer of high quality linerboard and kraft paper.  Eurocan’s modern 1,3650 tonne/day pulp and paper mill, with two paper machines, incorporates advanced papermaking and manufacturing processes while operating in an environmentally sound, safe and responsible manner. 

Reporting to the Paper Machine Superintendent, the Paper Mill Shift Supervisor will play an integral part in the successful operations by leading the paper machine crews and ensuring production optimization, quality control and equipment maintenance. Duties will be varied and include all aspects of the Paper Mill area.

Duties:

  • Directs the Paper Mill operations on a shift basis, to maintain maximum quality production in a safe and efficient
    manner.
  • Constantly seeks ways to control costs and improve efficiency within the mill while complying with environmental regulations.
  • Supervises shift crews in the application of approved procedures and policies in the Paper Mill.
  • Actively participates in the mill safety program as it applies to the Paper Mill, and ensures that all employees follow safe practice in the performance of their duties.
  • Reviews customer complaints with respect to product quality and analyzes process records to determine the cause and remedial action for complaints arising with the crew.
  • Communicates with the Paper Mill Area Maintenance to ensure that maintenance or repair work is identified and carried out properly.
  • Ensures the Paper Machine crews are adequately trained for the proper performance of their duties and have a full understanding of their responsibilities. Identifies opportunities for training to increase skill set of the team.
     

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience with strong and effective communications and inter-personal skills.
  • Computer literate and able to learn quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong mechanical/process background with technical and trouble shooting skills.
  • Organization and implementation of the department safety program.
  • Interfaces with our area maintenance team and provide maintenance priorities.
  • Ability to organize, direct and report on crew and departmental activities.
